Sylvia Makowski was raised in the suburbs outside of Toronto, with cultural roots in Europe. Sylvia’s passion and curiosity in makeup artistry began in the early years, as showcased by her Vogue-inspired makeup and love for the fashion industry. In 2009, Sylvia received professional training at the School of Makeup Art (SoMA) in Toronto. From there, she oriented herself towards client-based freelance work, including, but not limited to, wedding-related events and other social gatherings. In 2012, Sylvia decided to expand her professional repertoire and lend a hand in the international fashion industry. She attended the Academy of Freelance Makeup (AoFM) in London, UK to further educate herself and test her own abilities as a creative makeup artist within the fashion industry.
From there, her work has continued to be limitless and borderless, taking her from New York to Milan and London. Her endeavours allowed her to work in diverse professional settings; from editorial photo shoots and global fashion awards to the fast-paced environment working backstage at international fashion shows. Sylvia continues to expand her collaborative network with various established makeup artists, fashion designers and photographers around the world.
